Younger Nudists
Why are most people the participate in nudist and naturist activities are over 35 years old? Is it really just the natural progression of things? Or can we get more younger nudists involved?
Why Most Nudists are Over the Age of 35
One of the reasons that there are relatively few nudists who are in there 20s or early 30s is many of the individuals who are still active in the nudist community today were influenced by various political and cultural movements that occurred during the 20th century. As new generations emerge into society that were not directly influenced by these movements mature into the younger adults of today, there is a far smaller portion of the population that have been exposed to the types of ideas that would encourage a person to consider nudism.
As tempting as this argument may be, it is also necessary to recognize that there has often been more older nudists that participated in nudist organizations than younger members. Granted, the contrast is more striking in recent years than it once was, but younger people have never dominated any of the major nudist organizations but they can be seen at their local public nudist beach. It appears that the cultural divide may just be increasing the impact of forces that have always kept most people away from considering naturism until they are well into their thirties.
At the heart of the divide is how people perceive the value of their body during their youth compared to how they view their bodies once they reach complete maturity. Many young men and women view their bodies as a valuable commodity during their 20s and early 30s. Whether it is to attract sexual partners, get ahead in business or start a family, society places such a high value on youth that young adults rarely consider naturalism unless they are introduced to movement through their personal politics or cultural values.
