Nude Protest & Protesting Naked – Another way to get involved!
Nude Protest Have you been thinking about naturism, but just can’t seem to find a reason to get naked? Well look no further.. Find a purpose in getting naked by protesting something! Nudity is used all the time to draw attention to a certain issue, whether it’s peace, animal rights, or fighting for the right just to BE naked.
When it comes to this type of protest, I tend to favor certain types over others- the ones where people are actually naked over the ones that are announced as naked in the headlines but where people are really in their underwear and maybe wearing pasties. One example is PETA. Check out their ad below with Chad Ochocinco, publicized as him getting naked of course.
You are not naked, sir, I believe there is a football covering your manly bits. I’m not trying to hate on PETA though, they make a good statement: don’t wear animal fur, just go naked! I’m all for it.
And yet people still get angry about their protests, as I found this on the internet:
“I think their desire to stand naked in public is not only distasteful but morally wrong. I can tell you write now that if one of their members came up to me trying to talk to me about their organization I would politely listen and then say no thank you! But if I were in public and saw them streaking through the streets, especially with my child I would be livid.”
“I strongly believe that if it’s illegal for citizens to be naked on the street is should also be illegal for protesters to be naked on the street! Therefore, the next time they are out on the street stark-naked protesting for us not to east Bessie the cow, they should be arrested. I know that if you or I were to stand out on the street naked promoting what we believed in we would be arrested.”
So perhaps this brings up the reason that they aren’t actually full-frontally exposed: they do still have to comply with laws. And taboos that say you can’t just put a man’s penis on an Animal Rights advertisement. PETA has an image to uphold. Has anyone ever seen/attended a “naked” PETA protest?
Anyway, coming up in the next post– Naked protestors: those that distinguish the modest from the naked and fearless (or crazier) people.
