We’re excited to keep it up in 2012 and represent LA to the cycling world. Please get in touch with us if you want to help out with pre/post ride, route planning, promo, etc.
*DETAILS*
MEETING TIME: 12:00PM — body art, liquid courage, orientation. Pre-Ride location is BOOKED and the address will be released the day before the ride to R.S.V.P’s via facebook message and our email list. Make sure you R.S.V.P.!!!!!!
DEPARTURE TIME: 2:30PM – Don’t get left behind!
BIKES: are required (or other man-powered vehicle that can keep up) more on this below.
NUDITY: is encouraged but NOT required; as is body paint, costumes, decorations, and anything to draw attention to the rally and the WNBR message. No one will be excluded, ride as bare as you dare.
LEGAL: Arrests and tickets for the world naked bike ride are very rare. The police don’t want to be seen confronting peaceful and celebratory naked people. Especially a HUGE crew of them like we’ll have. Do note, though, that nudity in California is a misdemeanor. If you wish to protect yourself from the law, consider a thong, sock, flesh colored suit, paisties or who knows what. Be creative!!
ROUTE: last year we did a loop of Silverlake, EchoPark, and Downtown — this year’s route will cover similar territory. The route will be 8 -13 miles and contains mild hills. We designed the 2012 route for safety, tasteful exposure to modern and classic LA landmarks, and for accessibility. We take the ride at a slow pace, so you don’t need to be Lance Armstrong to ride with us.
POST-RIDE: There usually is a post-ride shindig at a private location with music, drinks, and dancing. More details coming soon!
MORE ON BIKES: please check your bikes tires, brakes, and gears before the ride, and consider bringing a spare tube and tools in case you have a blowout. The route/road is not strenuous, but these things happen and we don’t want anyone left behind. Also, consider decorating your bike and adorning it with any kind of sound making devices (bell, boom box, bull horn….)
GET INVOLVED –> if you want to help promote the ride, organize body/bike art, help with the after party, or help administer the ride CONTACT US ASAP: youngnaturists [at] gmail.com
WE NEED RIDE LEADERS/STEWARDS to help us manage intersections and be a confident presence for less experienced riders. I know you’re out there!
